Frequently Asked Questions
Where are you located?
Crochet Braids by Twana is a home based operation located in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Address is provided after an appointment is booked. Twana works from a private location each quarter in metro Atlanta, Georgia.
Do you provide the hair?
Yes, I provide the hair with the required deposit submitted at booking. The deposit goes toward the purchase of the hair and is non-refundable. If the hair you choose costs more than $25, an additional fee will be charged. Faux Locs, Twists and Box Braids generally required 6-8 packs and can cost $35-$80 dollars. An additional deposit fee will be required in those instances.
How long does an installation take?
Approximately 3 hours, depending on the style. Crochet Braids lasts 6-8 weeks.
How do I book an Appointment?
Simply click the Book The Appointment tab at the top of the page. Or go to the Services & Fees tab on the menu.
How do I pay the required deposit?
The deposit can be paid here on the website, when you click the Book Appointment tab at the top of the page.
Why do you require a deposit to book an appointment?
A deposit is required to book an appointment because it pays for the hair you choose for your style. In case you cancel the appointment, the expense of the hair is not a loss on my part. Unfortunately, most retailers do not allow the hair to be returned or exchanged. The deposit fee is completely separate from the styling fee. It is not included and it is NON-REFUNDABLE. If the appointment is cancelled, the deposit is forfeited along with the hair purchased.
What forms of payment do you accept?
On the day of styling, I accept cash, debit, credit, Cashapp, Zelle, Venmo & Paypal.
How much do you charge?
My styling fees range from $85 to $175 depending on the style and the age of the client. Seniors over 65 and children 12 and under are given a disount. To see a list of the fees, please see the Services & Fees page here on the website.
Can Human hair be used for Crochet Braids?
Yes, human hair can be used for Crochet Braids, but I have never had a good experience with it. Human hair is not dense enough to hold the knots required to secure the style. Human hair is very soft and when moisturized, the hair will loosen and slip out. Synthetic hair is a much better option for Crochet Braids. Some stylists use glue on the knots when using human hair. I do not support the practice of using glue or any adhesive to secure the knots. I use a 3-loop knotting method that does not require an adhesive.
Can I bring my own hair?
Yes, you can bring your own hair to the appointment. The $25 deposit is still required, but it will be deducted from the styling fee, if you bring your hair with you. There must be a discussion/agreement with Twana ahead of the appointment. There are some products that she does not use and she must know how many packs you're planning to bring with you.
Do you do Knotless or Illusion Crochet Braids?
No, I only do Basic Crochet installation. I don't do Knotless, Illusion, Invisible or Vixen Crochet Braids.
Do you do Individual Crochet Installation?
I do a modified version of Individual Crochet installation. I connect plaits and use a standard cornrow base. I do not use individual plaits for installation. Please contact Twana directly for a more detailed explanation and/or pics for clarity.
Do you provide shampoo services?
No, legally I am not allowed to provide shampoo services. I am not a licensed cosmetologist. Braiders are required to have a business license, which I do have. But not required to have a Cosmetology license.
