This tip is mostly regarding curly, wavy, and straight styles. Steam is not as much of an issue for crochet box braids, faux locs and twists. Hot steam can stay trapped in the nape area, around the base of the neck. That's where many people experience matting and tangles when wearing crochet braids. Always be sure to fluff and separate the extensions in that area.
